ABOUT THE CENTRE PUBLICATIONS PROJECTS COMMUNICATE

The Centre for Economic Development was established in 1995, the fourth year of a systemic post-Soviet crisis marked with a catastrophic decline in production and soaring hyperinflation, the year when the social welfare system froze stricken with paralysis and the society lost its usual social orientation. In the conditions of increasing economic and social collapse the very name of our Centre could be perceived as an example of unwarranted optimism; we were confident however that Ukraine would develop, even despite it had to pay dearly for transformation of the Soviet 'robot' machinery into a living social and economic organism.
